Education and Support for New and Existing Farmers
Underserved and small farmers continue to have trouble accessing profitable markets in north central North Carolina and southern Virginia. We aim to support these farmers and the communities in which they live. PPFG.
________
Since its inception over ten years ago, the Piedmont Progressive Farmers Group has assisted farmers with a wide range of educational programs. From how to write a farm business plan, managing a farm operation and working to collect data for better decision making, all farmers involved, have benefited. Working together for economies of scale with feed and supply purchases also make the PPFG a valuable business partner. Sharing success stories and lessons learned, the organization continues to provide programing and opportunities to help make farmers more successful.
Reaching the goal of forming a farmers cooperative several years ago, the Piedmont Progressive Farmers Cooperative (PPFC) is successfully operating now. The PPFG nonprofit continues providing educational assistance to both co-op and non co—op farmers. With PPFC now adding on the production of various produce in addition to egg production, opportunities for education on the various produce crops will be available.

PPFG was able to secure grant funding to assist with a refrigerated trailer and egg washing machine to assist with processing the eggs. PPFG also supplied cartons and labels for the eggs.
